Getting into the 40s

For one brief, shining moment, my scale read 149.8 pounds. Who cares if it was already noon and I hadn't eaten anything since 7 the night before? Who cares if I was just about to hop in the shower? Who cares if it was mostly water weight? That snapshot of my life was under 150.

I celebrated by eating a pint of ice-cream.

Whoops.

Hallelujah!

I'm wearing pants. With a zipper. And buttons. From before I was pregnant. Right now.

JH Report for 8.25, 9.1

Okay, so last week did not go as planned (probably because I didn't write my goals down). I wasn't planning on exercising Monday since it was a holiday. That may be a lame excuse, but I know myself well enough to realize there was no chance. I walked for an hour on Tuesday. Jonas and I were sick the rest of the week so we took it easy and didn't do anything. The week before, I did 5 out of 6 days. I am noticing a trend...

Goals This Week:
* 6 days of walking or cardio workout videos (we have visitors in town, so I don't think I can be more specific just yet)

Weigh-in:
August 10: 160 pounds
August 17: 159 pounds
August 24: 157.6 pounds
August 31: 156.4 pounds
September 7: 155.2 pounds

By the way, you're doing GREAT Jess. Keep it up!

JT's update

So I've been doing pretty good. I ran once last week for 30 minutes, but other than that I've been walking. I started doing push ups and sit ups and have noticed a huge improvement. I failed miserably with the once sweet a week goal. I use my extra 500 calories a day for nursing as an excuse to eat all the ice cream and brownies I want. On the upside I have been good at getting 3 servings of veggies a day.

Goals for the rest of the week of 9/1 and the week of 9/8:
Run 1-2x's/ week for 30 minutes
Continue walking 1-2hr/day 3-4x's/week
Cut back on sweets (I'm not ready to set a limit ;) )
Continue eating veggies
Take vitamins daily

JH Report 2, Exercise Plan 8.25-8.30

Due to flooding, we didn't go down to South Padre Island. It's a blessing that we didn't because Jonas caught his first cold and had a lot of chest congestion so being away probably would have been a nightmare. Anyway, I missed one workout again. Not great, but still 5 more workouts than I was doing a few weeks ago.

This week, I am actually starting the running program over. I have been doing it inside on a treadmill (for the most part), but when I did Saturday outside, I thought I was going to die! It was SO MUCH HARDER. So I am starting again, this time outside so that torture doesn't take me by surprise during the half marathon.

Schedule for 8.25-8.30
Monday: 30 minutes: Walk
Tuesday: 30 minutes: Walk
Wednesday: 30 minutes: Walk 5, Jog 0.5
Thursday: Cross train
Friday: 30 minutes: Walk 5, Jog .5
Saturday: 30 minutes: Walk 5, Jog 1

As far as running goes, I am wearing two sports bras. Nursing is not compatible with cardiovascular activities, that's for sure. The second one is a cup smaller than it's supposed to be, so it holds me in much tighter. Let me know if you think of anything better.

Weigh In.
I weigh myself on Sunday evenings when I am the heaviest. It's a really good motivator to get up Monday morning.
August 10: 160 pounds
August 17: 159 pounds
August 24: 157.6 pounds

My unrealistic goal is 120 pounds. Realistically, 130 pounds will be an amazing triumph and could keep me happy for many years.

JH Report 1, Exercise Plan 8.18-8.23

I didn't do so bad for 8.11-8.17. I missed one workout and some of the others were cut a bit short in order to tend to Jonas' needs. I learned that it is unrealistic to walk/jog AND do a video every day of the week. I felt like I was constantly "about to workout." We're going to South Padre Island this week so I won't be doing any videos, but next week I'll do at least one.

Schedule for 8.18-8.23
Monday: 30 minutes: Walk 5, Jog 1
Tuesday: 30 minutes: Walk 5, Jog 0.5
Wednesday: 30 minutes: Walk 5, Jog 1
Thursday: Cross train
Friday: 30 minutes: Walk 5, Jog 2
Saturday: 30 minutes: Walk 5, Jog 2

JT's First Week Report

O.k. so I did pretty good with the exercise this week. I only missed one day. One thing I've realized.......nursing and running aren't a good combo. I think I'm going to have to wear two bras from now on. Here are next week's goals:
1. walk/jog 5x's
2. leg lifts and push ups 3x's
3. 1 sweet for the week

JH Exercise 8.11-8.17

Next week I will start working on the diet. This week's mission: daily exercise

Jennifer's Exercise Plan 8.11.08-8.17.08

Like Jess, I can no longer count breathing as my cardiovascular activity for the day. My baby is 2 months old and yet I still look 6 months pregnant. Raise your proverbial glass--here's to daily exercise, healthy eating, and making people say, "You've had a baby?! I can't believe it!"

Goals
Weight: 130 pounds
Fitness Level: Run Seabrook Half Marathon--13 March 2009

Training Help

So I'm trying to find an exercise plan that will work with my schedule and help me train for a half marathon. If anyone has some good websites for me, I'd love the tips. This is what I've found so far:
Running Planet's Going from Walker to Runner
Running Planet's 10K training schedule
Running Planet's Half Marathon Training Plan for the Casual Runner
Marathon Rookie
Runner's World Ultimate Half Marathon Training Plan

Now I just have to pick one and stick to it.

A New Beginning

My baby is 4 months old. You would think I would have tried to start exercising before now. But this is my new beginning. I've decided starting now I'm going to eat healthier, I'm going to stop counting going up and down our stairwell or changing a diaper as exercise, and I'm going to become a fit mommy! My goal is to be able to do a half marathon by March 2009. This blog is to help me track my progress and reach my goal.
