Practiced push presses and push-ups

Pregnancy Status: 29 weeks 6 days

Back Squats, Pull-ups

7 rounds
5 back squats (75 pounds)
7 pull-ups (grey band)

Pregnancy Status: 29 weeks, 5 days

Monday, March 29, 2010

Hang Cleans, Pull-ups

5 rounds, 10 reps
hang power cleans, 45 pounds

21-15-9
pull-ups, grey and green bands

Push-ups
For fun, I attempted an incline 8 and my form already started to break on the second push-up

Goal:
1. Hang power cleans, 45 pounds, 10 reps
2. Pull-ups, 2 bands, 15 reps

The cleans were pretty easy, which means I probably need to set more weight, but I had hardly done them before now, so I thought 45 pounds was pushing it. I am not going to extend this goal because my belly is getting far too big to keep proper form. Plus, we need bumper plates soon if I'm going to be kind to my joints.

I was sincerely surprised I could do all 21 pull-ups without stopping. The last time I tried pull-ups with two bands, I could barely do 5. Also, the bands chafe my stomach, even through my clothes. I will probably need to set some new goals with one band since two bands was too easy.

Bear Complexes

3 rounds (15-12-9)
Bear complex, 27.5 pounds
200 m run

Wow, those are impossible! I love them already.

Bear complex: hang power clean, front squat, push press (receive on back), back squat, push press = 1 rep

This exercise made me realize how much we need bumper plates. More weight will be incredibly hard on my joints if I can't just drop them after the push press. Even at 27.5 pounds, I can feel the strain on my body as I do an awkward reverse hang clean.

Back Squats, Incline Press, Lunges

5 rounds, 10 reps each
Back Squats, 65 pounds
Incline Press, 20 pound DBs (2nd round=25 pound DB)
Static Lunges, 15 pound DBs

Goal: max plank (1 minute)
Max: 1 min 3 seconds

For some reason, I though I had set my max for two minutes, which I may shoot for. We'll see.

Notes: Another goal down. Incline Press, 20 pound DBs, 10 reps

Pregnancy Status: 29 weeks 1 day

Push Press, Push-up

3-mile walk

I'm still really sore from Monday, but knew I needed to stretch my shoulders and biceps out a little bit. It's amazing how difficult this workout was.

3 rounds
10 push presses (37.5 pounds)
10 push-ups (incline 6)

Pregnancy Status: 29 weeks

Deadlift, Good Mornings

My upper body is still sore from Monday's bicep workout and my left calf is killing me from the Tuesday morning charley horse wake-up call.

Walk

21-15-9

Deadlifts 65 pounds
Good mornings 32.5 pounds

Weight wise, these were easy exercises on my back and legs. Unfortunately, due to soreness, the good mornings killed my traps and the deadlift made it hard to hold up the bar. Looks like I need to work my biceps a little more.

Squats, Pushups

Push-up Exhaustion Test
Incline 6

I was really hoping for 75 today and then possibly reaching my goal of 100 next Thursday.

I suppose I need a new goal now, because I hit 104! Boo-yah.

Thrusters, Lunges, Goal: Thrusters

5 rounds
10 thrusters, 45 pounds
10 static lunges, 15 pound DBs

Time: 18 min 24 sec

I really hate lunges. Probably because I'm terrible at them.

Mission: Accomplished
Goal: Thrusters, 10 reps, 45 pounds

2 minute rest between rounds 7 and 8. I am rethinking my goal of 100 push-ups--not because I don't think I can do it (I can!), but because I wonder if it is the best use of my time. Perhaps 50-75 are sufficient...

Rope Jumps, SL Deadlift, Hang Cleans

3 rounds
20 rope jumps
20 SL Deadlift (75 pounds)
20 Hang Cleans (15 pound DBs)

Time: 18min 26 seconds

I completed the WOD after my push-ups training. On SL Deadlifts, I was having more burn in my triceps (holding up the bar) than I was in my hamstrings.

Push-ups Training
45 second rest
Round 1: 18
Round 2: 18
Round 3: 20
Round 4: 20
Round 5: 14

Round 8: 42 (max 40+)

Total: 162

I took a 2 minute rest between round 7 and round 8.

Side note:
Turns out my exhaustion was completely warranted these past few weeks. My blood tests on Friday revealed I am anemic. That explains a lot.

Good Mornings, Lunges, Training: Push-ups

I accomplished another goal and didn't even realize it!

Lunges: 15 pound DBs, 10 reps. Perhaps I should have set my sights a little higher :)

WOD
21-15-9
Good Mornings (60 pounds)
Static Lunges (15 pound DBs)

Push-ups Training
60 second rest
Round 1: 28
Round 2: 35
Round 3: 25
Round 4: 22
Round 5: 36 (max 35+)

Total: 146

Today we also had group exercise, but we basically had 3 different workouts. Elizabeth just came back after her surgery (6 weeks ago), Dallas is having trouble with her IT band, and I'm 6 months pregnant.

I also had great difficulty with the push-ups. Every time I make progress, it feels like I take two steps back because I'm gaining weight (and my muscle growth doesn't keep up with it).

Elizabeth:
9-15-21
Step Ups (10 pound DBs)
SL Deadlift (light bar)

Dallas:
75 snatches (17.5 pounds)
20 SL Deadlift (55 pounds)
50 snatches
20 SL Deadlift (65 pounds)
25 snatches
20 SL Deadlift (65 pounds)

Squats Training

My push-up training has taken longer than I expected because I lowered my incline. I decided against pull-up training for a variety of reasons, including the fact that I have so much extra weight on me and it's not necessarily the best use of my time.

I started squat training today so I can reach 200 squats. I really need/want strong legs when this baby comes, so this should help me accomplish that.

Initial Test: 61

OH Squats

OH Squats
Goal: 10 reps, 45 pounds
Mission: Accomplished

Round 1: 10 reps, 32.5 pounds
Round 2: 10 reps, 42.5 pounds
Round 3: 10 reps, 45 pounds

And for good measure:
Round 4: 10 reps, 50 pounds

Feels good.

I know I can't go all the way down in a squat because my belly hits my thighs, but it still feels good knowing 50 pounds was easy. Makes me realize I should have marked this off earlier.

Push Press

I tried to reach 75 pounds again, though I did eke out one more press. Monday, definitely Monday.

Push Press
Goal: 10 reps, 75 pounds

Round 1: 10 reps, 45 pounds
Round 2: 10 reps, 55 pounds
Round 3: 5 reps, 65 pounds
Round 4: 7 reps, 75 pounds

Push Press, Deadlift

I am still feeling pretty nauseous all the time and with my workout partner out of commission for the past 6 weeks, I've slacked big time (focusing mainly on stretching and walking--lame).

Tonight I decided to get over myself and make a real effort toward my goals.

Push Presses

Round 1: 10 reps, 45 pounds
Round 2: 10 reps, 65 pounds
Round 3: 6 reps, 75 pounds

I wanted to reach my goal today (10 reps, 75 pounds). Just 4 away...

Deadlifts
Round 1: 10 reps, 45 pounds
Round 2: 5 reps, 65 pounds
Round 3: 5 reps, 75 pounds
Round 4: 10 reps, 85 pounds
Round 5: 5 reps, 95 pounds
Round 6: 5 reps, 100 pounds

I DID IT!!!!

I hit both of my deadlift goals tonight, at 6 months pregnant no less. And the icing on the cake? My little man only has a couple of words at 21 months (arf arf, daddy, oh, and the occasional up). But tonight I said I was doing deadlifts, to which he responded, "De-lif?" Love it.
